Greenland / Zhengzhou Expo-City, China

2014 bis 2015

In Zhengzhou a new exhibition grounds with neighbouring urban districts has been planned. The most important element is a central axis that runs East-West through the site and connects the diverse spaces of the city. A network of green corridors embraces these different areas and become fragmented cells as they reach farther into the developed areas. At the heart of the project is the exhibition island that takes the form of a traditional forbidden city, surrounded by a riverscape and wetland park. This naturalized space provides a variety of ecological services and sustainable benefits, while allowing visitors to enjoy various recreational activities and relaxation. Mimicking the traditional form of the Forbidden City, the Expo-City breaks the organic shape of the water around it and imposes its architectural shape.
