Gateway City Towers of Ras al Khaimah, VAE

2008 bis 2015

In the desert of Ras Al Khaimah, a new city for 150.000 inhabitants is going to be developed. At the eastern edge of the urban area, the Gateway City Towers mark the new entrance into town. A huge lake of sea water and solar energy, becoming a walkable event park, serve for gaining energy. Selecting a water basin as an element of landscape has several reasons. All the buildings obtain an address at the waterside. The design concept reaches from defined urban and formally designed areas alongside the central axis via the typology of the landscape park towards the sandy, close to nature structured edges of the waterside.
