Central Park - Parkstadt Schwabing, Munich

1999 bis 2002

The central park connects the new urban development Parkstadt Schwabing in North-South direction. In Munich, the view direction into the South, into the Pre-alps and Alps panorama, dominates. This orientation of view builds the motif for a locally central landscape park with pictures of the different alp landscapes in theme gardens. They represent abstract persiflages of the different landscape, which are to be found in between Munich and the Alps. The central park, 700 meter long and 70 meter wide, has been established between two entrys of office blocks. The streets of the quarter are continued as axes of paths in the park, providing for a rhythmic structuring. A playground invites children and adults to play. In between the gardens, there are also meadows available for sorts and for playing. East-west-oriented green belts link the central park to the extended green belt alongside the railway in the West.
